Pet Nose Print Impression Kit
Pet Nose Print Impression Kit
Use this moldmaking kit to create impressions of nose prints from your pet. Your finished molds can be used to create custom jewelry if you wish. The cost of custom made jewelry is separate from the cost of the kit.
How does the kit work?
Using this kit is so easy! Mix the two parts of putty in your hands, put it in the mold cup, and press your pet’s nose into it for a few seconds. Set it aside to let it harden. Each kit contains enough material for two molds because sometimes the first one doesn’t turn out. You can use the molds for anything you want, but if you would like me to make jewelry you can send everything back to me in the original packaging with the included prepaid mailing label! One label provided per US order. International customers are responsible for their own shipping.
Which kit do I choose?
There are two options, 15 lbs or under and 16 lbs or over. Please choose the appropriate size/weight for your pet when you place your order. If your pet is on the cusp, please size up. Larger animals have larger noses, so more material and larger mold cups are included in the large kits.
The small size is usable for human fingerprints or footprints for animals 2 lbs or less. Please, no larger footprints.
You said there is enough material for two impressions. I have two pets, can’t I just buy one kit and use it for both pets?
I strongly suggest people buy one kit per pet. The first impression is like making the first pancake, it typically does not turn out. The second one is usually the one that makes the best jewelry. If you try to save money in the short run, you will probably not get the best impressions/jewelry in the long run. Help me help you, and let’s get the best prints possible!
What is included in the box?
This listing is for an impression kit and a mailing label, NOT for finished jewelry. Each kit contains enough medical grade moldmaking material to make two molds, instructions, an order form, and a treat for you. The moldmaking material is 100% body safe, sets in less than 3 minutes, and doesn’t get lost in pet nostrils — accept no imitations. If you wish, jewelry can be ordered separately when your molds are complete, using the order form inside your kit.
How much does it cost if I want to have jewelry made from my molds?
Bronze work starts at $150, most people are charged a flat rate of $150 but VERY large pieces may incur an additional fee. Sterling silver work has a base rate of $125 plus the market price of silver used in your piece. Gold work starts at $500 and goes up based on the market price of gold. Small noses cost less to cast in silver or gold, large noses cost more — because metals are priced by weight. You know how big your pet is. No quotes can be provided until your molds are returned, but I can help you once you send them back to me to be assessed!
There is an order form inside each box where you’ll provide the pet’s name and your information and then check off all of your preferences for ordering pendants or standalone impressions, you can add a chain, and there is an area for notes in case you want a higher karat than 14k gold, engraving added, etc. or just want to say something nice about your pet!
Turnaround time for custom jewelry orders is around eight weeks from the date your molds arrive at my studio. It’s just me working here, so please be patient with me. You will be notified when your package arrives here and I’ll get you taken care of.
What is the jewelry-making process like?
Once I have your molds, I pour molten wax into both molds to determine which one came out best. Each wax gets cleaned up, stuck to a wax sprue, added to a wax tree inside of a flask, and embedded in a plaster-like material called investment. Once the investment hardens, the whole flask is placed in a kiln where the wax gets burned into oblivion, aka “lost” which is why the process is called lost wax casting. After that, molten metal (of your choice) gets poured into the cavity, taking up the exact shape and size of the wax. After casting the pieces are rinsed, pickled, polished, jump rings are added if you want to wear the piece as a necklace, and then the finished piece is sent back to you!
Each piece is custom made just for you out of only the finest materials.
Can you use the same mold to make multiple pieces of jewelry?
Yes! Not that you need it, but each mold can be used hundreds of times.
Will I get my molds back?
Absolutely! If you choose to order jewelry, your molds will be returned in a chiffon storage bag along with your finished jewelry, a polishing cloth, and care card.
How do the mailing labels work?
One mailing label will be provided per order with shipment info calculated according to the weight of your entire order. Orders with multiple kits can be returned together with the provided label, or you can return them separately with the shipper of your choice.
International buyers are responsible for their own return shipping to my studio. This is because my software cannot generate labels originating outside the US.
My pet is sick/dying/died. Is this kit a good fit for us?
I am so sorry for what you are going through. Unfortunately I cannot offer rush shipping on any products because I’m unable to guarantee carrier transit times (because even overnighted packages are not guaranteed to arrive) and I can’t risk putting customers at risk of a package arriving too late in an emergent situation like this. You may want to consider a locket or eye pendant as a memorial instead. Kits may also be used postmortem on frozen deceased pets, and you may ask your vet to store them until your kit arrives. Some people are more comfortable with this than others so please use your best judgment for how you feel.
I am unable to accept requests for rush orders or cancel orders once they are placed, so if you decide you no longer want your kit you may gift it to a friend or family member.
