Send in your own material
If you are looking for a pendant containing your own sentimental material, I would love to have your material sent to my studio to be made into a locket! These can commemorate any special moment, memory, person, or animal. I can work with nearly any solid or powdered material of your choice, and you can be as creative as you’d like. Material suggestions: Cremation ash, hair, small teeth, fibers from clothing or carpets, sand or soil from sentimental locations, dried flowers, seeds, coffee grounds, and almost anything else you can think of!
Measurements
Solid items like teeth will need to be under the measurements of your locket. Here are the MAXIMUM sizes your item can be:
- 12mm round locket: 9mm wide, 9mm tall, and 3mm thick
- 15mm round locket: 13mm wide, 13mm tall, and 4mm thick
- Oval locket: 14mm tall, 9mm wide at widest point (bear in mind the oval gets skinnier at the top and bottom), and 4mm thick
- Rectangular locket: 13mm tall, 9mm wide (bear in mind the corners are beveled), and 2mm thick
Soft or fluid materials like pet fur, ashes or fabric will be used in the locket as needed and the remainder will be returned to you.
Hair measuring under 6" will be trimmed to fit, or wrapped in a circle depending on its texture. Hair over 6" long presents some more ornate options like a woven basket knot or a Victorian-inspired braid. Weavings of human hair are best suited for a rectangular locket. Horse hair is best suited for a round locket. Whiskers will need to be cut to fit in a locket of any shape; an alternative option that keeps whiskers intact is available here.
Use one of my materials like squirrel teeth or armadillo scutes
If you are looking to add an item like a squirrel tooth, ammonite, etc. from my studio in addition to your own sentimental items, please reach out before placing your locket order so I can make sure I have the item set aside for you. Please do not submit a form with the box checked for my studio materials unless we have actually discussed your project -- my inventory is always changing so let's make sure your requested item is reserved before you proceed with this form. A generally up-to-date list of materials you can inquire about is available at this link.
Eye jewelry
If you would like a replica of a human or animal eye on one side of your pendant, please start on this page!
If you don't have all the materials you need yet...
If you do not have all of the materials you want yet (i.e. you would like to add a gemstone) you can also check that box on the order form. These items can be purchased from a site like Etsy and shipped directly to my studio. I’ll reply with my mailing info, you’ll place your order for your items through whoever you’d like, and just input my address at checkout. Make sure you know the measurement of the item(s) before you have the package sent. Any leftover material will be sent to you with your finished jewelry.
My material recommendations (please read)
I want you to end up with a piece you think is beautiful and will treasure forever. If you have both hair and ash, I recommend strongly that you get separate lockets for each material due to the way they cling together when mixed. Ash is suitable to use with hard/solid items like gemstones, fossils, birthstones, etc. if you are looking for an alternative to mixing hair and ash together.
Hairwork
I accept basket-woven hairwork commissions for human hair and horse hair over 6" in length and braid them using Victorian-era patterns. Hair should be cleaned and sorted into a bundle with the root ends all together, and gently placed in a plastic bag. Please note that tangled hair, or hair under 6" long, is not suitable for Victorian hairwork. If you would like hairwork, please mention it in the body of your request so we can discuss project specifics. Hairwork is done at no additional charge.
Hair under 6" long will either be trimmed to fit into your locket or curled/coiled/wrapped in a circle, and the treatment used will depend on the amount and texture of your provided hair -- not all hair textures are suitable, for example very straight hair will not naturally curl into the locket and will be trimmed to fit. I will assess it once it is received in my studio to see which style works best for your specific hair sample. Please be open/flexible to what is possible.
Pet hair - trimmed to fit
Human hair - trimmed to fit
Human hair - wrapped in a circle with a small piece of a child’s art
Human hair - basket woven hairwork

Kindly make it a habit to check your spam folder daily to ensure you receive my response.
When ordering a custom locket, you must mail your material(s) to my studio for your project to be completed. I do not sell empty lockets. Jewelry (any jewelry, from costume to fine — not just my designs) should be treated with care for their longevity. Lockets should not be worn when bathing, swimming, or during high-impact activities to ensure they do not get lost or damaged. Your locket will ship with care instructions and a super soft polishing cloth to keep it looking great for generations. Any unused sentimental materials will be returned to you with your finished project.
Payment is not due until your locket is completed, but I ask that you please be ready to pay for your order when you place it in case your project is finished sooner than the 8-week mark. Every element of your locket will be handcrafted to order after your materials are received at my studio and your patience is much appreciated.
Thank you and I can’t wait to work together!
