This pendant was created with a real specimen of a Dynastes hercules beetle grub. The grub failed to thrive and was preserved by an entomologist friend, dried, and molded. I injected the first mold with wax, then sculpted out the areas that had sunken in when the grub died. That wax was then cast and molded again, resulting in the final product!
