Cyanotype Workshop - May 4th

$45.00

Harness the power of the sun to create beautiful blue art prints! We’ll talk about the original form of photography, cyanotypes, before we try our hand at our own prints. We’ll experiment with different objects and opacities to create layouts that allow UV rays to penetrate the light-sensitive paper, resulting in gorgeous photograms.

WHAT TO BRING: Bring a variety of flat-ish objects with you that create interesting patterns or silhouettes when held up to a light source. Geode slices, crystals with flat facets, slices of citrus inside a plastic bag, pressed plants, jewelry, little toys, and more can create a fun and even meaningful piece of art. I will have a variety of materials if you don’t have something to bring — snake skins, pigeon feathers, and more.

You may also email me a photo which I can turn into a negative transparency for you.

Appropriate for all ages and experience levels.

You will leave with your own finished cyanotype print. A follow-up email will include a materials list and refresher on the process.

Space is limited.

Class is taking place at my studio inside Mana Contemporary in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago. Mana has its own free parking lot and is accessible by the Cermak & Throop bus stop.
