Custom molding & jewelry casting from your objects
Do you have a sentimental item like a tooth, bone, fossil or shell you’d like turned into jewelry? You can mail it to me to be molded and cast into custom jewelry! Objects small enough can also be placed in a custom locket.
Your precious item will be carefully molded with a two-part reusable mold, which can be filled with wax. The mold can be reused to make as many waxes as you want, and each wax will be cast in your choice of sterling silver or gold. Your object, your mold, and your jewelry will all be returned to you. Keep your mold somewhere safe, and if you lose your jewelry you can always have another piece made!
Pricing:
Molds are $45 per mold/object
All custom cast jewelry is billed at a rate of $125 per piece to cover equipment and labor, plus the actual cost of the metal used at the time of casting. Larger objects = more metal.
A sterling silver wisdom tooth would cost around $50 in metal, the same item in 14k gold would be around $2200 and so forth
I can provide a quote for the total cost of jewelry after your item is molded — after a mold is made, I can weigh the mass of the wax itself and calculate the price of the metal actually needed for the casting
Castings can be made into a charm, necklace, earring, or a standalone object to be kept in a trinket box
The process takes about 8 weeks and this timeline begins after your item has arrived in my studio
