Slide this lion tooth pendant onto any chain up to 2mm in diameter! Thoughtfully designed for all, I created this pendant using a real lion tooth.

On a trip to Austin in 2016 I stopped in the Corner Shoppe, a legendary taxidermy shop. I casually asked if they had any teeth for sale and the proprietor told me no, but as we got to talking as I shopped we got to know each other a bit. As I was on my way out, he said he had something for me and handed me a tooth. He said he it was from a broken skull from an estate sale lot dating back to the mid 80s and couldn’t sell me any lion parts since I lived out of state, but he wanted to give it to me as a gift. And thus I became the delighted owner of a real lion’s tooth, which remains one of my most treasured possessions. The only catch? I had to show him what I ended up making.

When I got home I made a mold of it, injected the mold with wax, and added two half-moon jump rings to the back so that it lays very comfortably on a chain at any length and won’t spin around or get twisted up.

Each pendant is handmade from the original mold using the process of lost wax casting.

Pendant: ~1 3/4” tall, ~1” wide, approximately 52 grams

My 14k gold plating is always 3 microns thick, more gold than the 2.5 microns legally required to designate jewelry as vermeil.
