Sign up for a raccoon taxidermy workshop with absolutely no experience necessary — learn about skinning, fleshing, cleaning, fluffing, and mounting small mammals specimens for display. These classes are limited to only four students.

The next raccoon taxidermy workshops in Chicago are taking place on these dates. Each date is a separate, all-inclusive class.

  • Saturday, September 8th from 12 pm to 3 pm
  • Sunday, October 7th from 12 pm to 3 pm

What will students learn?
You will be provided with a raccoon cape that has already been skinned and fleshed so that we can dive right into the fun part! You will learn about skinning, fleshing, cleaning, splitting and turning, carving heads, inserting earliners, finishing work, mounting to a plaque, and will be given a PDF guide to the entire process for future projects.

About the class:
All specimens are sustainably sourced. Workshops are taught by award-winning licensed taxidermist Mickey Alice Kwapis.

What do students leave with?
Each student will leave with a finished pinned raccoon mount ready for drying and will be emailed a PDF guide on the process for future reference.

What is the cost?
Tuition is $400 total, which includes instruction, supplies, and a specimen to keep as well as aftercare instructions and a PDF guide to the process.
