This workshop is suitable for folks who have always wanted to try taxidermy but aren’t sure if they can handle the “real deal” as well as being 100% vegan! And of course, it’s open to all taxidermy enthusiasts too. This class is taking place in Chicago on September 1st, 2018 from 11 am to 1 pm.

Way back in elementary school, I used to collect autumn leaves and iron them between pieces of waxed paper with bits of crayon shavings. When I learned how to do taxidermy in 2012, I moved on to creating fluid-preserved specimens with fruit - a movement in preservation that I am proud to have pioneered!

This workshop will guide you through four botanically-based projects:

-Preserve flattened plant matter in your own hand-assembled flower press
-Learn to inject a non-buoyant fruit with fluid to preserve it in a jar
-Create a stunning display of citrus in a slice-and-slide-style project
-Arrange flowers in a small bouquet to store permanently in fluid

Tuition is $200 per person and includes all supplies and materials. Students will be guided step-by-step through all four projects and everyone will keep their finished specimens. Students will be provided with a small tool set and a flower press to keep as well as a follow-up email with aftercare instructions.
