Austin Taxidermy Workshop - Birds - Make a Deposit

Discounts will be provided to those who sign up for more than one of my classes in Austin. Place your deposits for each class as usual and the discount will be subtracted from the balance you owe.

Sign up for a taxidermy class and make your own bird!

Reserve your spot for $100 USD and pay the remaining $100 on the day of your class. These classes are $200 total and limited to eight students. If you've never done taxidermy before, you're coming to the right place - just prepare to learn lots of new things!

Dates and times:

  • Sunday, June 11th @ 11 am

Location: This class will be taking place at Whirlaway Farm. The week prior to the class date, a reminder email with the address and any other pertinent information will be emailed to the email address you provide.

Upon arriving to the class, each student will receive a thawed chick or duckling (sourced from natural deaths from the farm itself as well as leftovers from other taxidermy classes) and all of the supplies to mount it. Students will learn about carving forms, wrapping forms, wiring the legs, and more. Instructions must be followed so please come prepared to listen. From there, everyone will pin and pose their small bird. Aftercare instructions will be covered at the end of class, and each student leaves with their bird. After three weeks, temporary pins can be removed from the face and the bird is ready for gift-giving or display!

All specimens are sustainably sourced. This means none of the animals died just to be a part of the taxidermy process, and all of their parts not used in the taxidermy process (everything but the skin) is repurposed for food and fertilizer when possible. Students with special needs are also welcome - just let me know beforehand if special accommodations are required.

To sign up and reserve your spot, please follow these instructions:

  • Choose your desired class date and time from the drop-down menu.
  • Click the button below the menu to add the ticket(s) to your cart.
  • Fill out the form that pops up. You will need to provide a name, email address, and phone number.
  • Each student needs to have a separate form filled out. If you are giving the class as a gift, please provide the student’s information rather that your own.
  • When you are finished adding the desired tickets to your cart, proceed to checkout and pay your deposit of $100 per ticket. Your registration is not complete and your spot is not reserved until you have submitted payment.
  • The remaining $100 per student will be due in cash at the time of the class. A reminder about this will be provided in an email sent to students the week before their class date along with location info and more.

The nitty-gritty: Deposits are nonrefundable unless the class gets cancelled. If you make a deposit but find you can no longer attend the class, you may forfeit your deposit or transfer it to another person if you desire.
