It’s that time of year already! Crampus Holiday Market is an annual event that benefits Chicago Period Project. CPP is a Chicago-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides menstrual products and educational resources to the 29% of menstruating Chicagoans that live at or below the poverty level. AND YES, WE SPELLED IT C-R-A-M-P-U-S ON PURPOSE. It’s a pun about menstrual cramps.
Crampus Holiday Market and Galentine’s Day Market are sister events that operate through a very simple model: instead of charging a table fee to pay for advertising or line someone else’s pockets, we ask every vendor to promote the heck out of the event so we can reach as many people as possible. Instead of charging admission, we ask every shopper who attends the event to bring a box of pads or tampons to donate to Chicago Period Project.
Here’s our track record:
Crampus Holiday Market 2017 - over 10,000 items donated
Galentine’s Day Market 2018 - over 7,000 items donated
Crampus Holiday Market 2018 - over 21,000 items donated
Galentine’s Day Market 2019 - over 28,500 items donated
This year our goal is 30,000 pads and tampons. Want to be part of the vendor team that makes it happen? Applications are open now through October 11th at 11:59 pm. The cost to apply is $10 and all application fees collected will be used to buy pads and tampons to donate to CPP at the event. You must enter your payment information before filling out the application, but the payment will not actually go through unless you fill out the whole application and submit the payment by clicking “DONATE” after the 5th step of the application. Use the button below to get started!
PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL EMPORIUM OR CHICAGO PERIOD PROJECT ABOUT BEING ADDED AS A VENDOR. They are very busy attending to the daily operations of their respective businesses/organizations. This application is the ONLY way to become a vendor at the market.
As the event gets closer, we will also be looking for volunteers for a number of tasks such as collecting donations at the CPP table, handing out floor plans to make sure none of the vendors in the back get skipped, and relieving vendors if they need a 5-minute bathroom break. If you’d like to volunteer, please email email@example.com.
If you are simply interested in attending the event, I (Mickey, event organizer) will send out an email to my mailing list when the Eventbrite link goes live. For now, join my mailing list below and make sure to mark your calendar for Tuesday, December 17th at 6 pm when doors open!
